Eddi:
You might want to try Walmart, as they have Silicone cookie sheets. They work, for glue guns, and they seem to work for the thermo lock.

I'd call GRS and let them know it didn't come with one. If it was indeed supposed to they should send you one forthwith. Free.

Or an even cheaper solution.

I'm here in Emporia taking the Basic Engraving class. At the Tuesday night dinner we got the ThermoLoc sample kits. Back at my room I needed to make a stand for my practice plates so I could take pictures for my ever-indulgent wife. Realized I had the ThermoLoc and a microwave but what to use to melt it on / in?

Then I remembered that the 'dish' from my Monday night microwave entree was PTFE plastic. Nice and thick too. I'd rinsed it before tossing it in the trash and hadn't taken it out yet. So I fished it out, cleaned it up some more, and used it. Worked great!

It was a 'Chicken & Rice' entree I got at the Wal-Mart. Forget the brand but if you go to the store and check the microwave entrees you'll find one in a nice, thick, PTFE dish that you can use for melting your ThermoLoc. Might even be something tasty. :)

Eddi,

So good to know the forums are alive and well in Iceland!

I have been there four times, as a lad, back in 1958 and '60 , from Scotland, when almost all of Icelands's buildings were corrugated iron, and very attractive shapes, too. I was on my way back and forward to Greenland to explore, and climb unclimbed peaks near Mesters Vig, on Scoresby Land. Ended up doing about 1,500 miles in an open boat 14 feet long in the ocean, dodging the falling iceberg waves coming off the glacier snouts. Lost 8 of my 9 lives, but lived to tell the tale. In those far off days of air travel, it was DC3's and DC 4's, the flight connection time was one week and not one hour, so I went into the interior and camped out for a week somewhere near Keplavik. Loved your wilderness!

best wishes!

Hi Rod.

I live in Keflavik. We have a watches and jewellery shop here. And I have a Scottish name too. Georg Eggert Hannah. Some of my family came from Scotland, maby 200-300 years ago.
I got married in a Kilt!
