Being a learner engraver I have been very interested in the views of engravers whether both laser jet and inkjet printers can be used equally successfully for engraving transfers via transparency film. Now I know that Inkjet printers can be used for excellent transfers.

A couple of weeks ago I bought from e-Bay a pack of HP "Premium InkJet Transparency Film" (50 sheets). I have been busy building a engravers block stand to fit me and my microscope and just today I got around to trying the HP Inkjet transparency film using my HP 309A color printer/fax/copier as the printer to print one of Mr. Arnauld's practice designs onto the transparency film. I just stuck a sheet of the transparency film in the paper tray of my HP 309A, printed the design, took it down to my workshop, covered the practice plate with Tom White's "Transfer Magic" and let it dry, burnished the transparency design image with the back of my GRS chasing hammer head against the practice plate and then lifted the design image off the practice plate.

I was astounded with the high degree of visibility of the transfer of the design image to the practice plate. It was just a clear and defined as if the image had been printed directly to the practice plate.

What great "stuff" this "Transfer Magic"

Best Regards;
Steve
