Hello All,just received a phone call from a relative of a fellow who is,as I type;building and maintaining ice roads in Alaska. He has ordered a Kimber CDP II with a stainless slide and wants a name engraved while he is here in town to pick it up and give it to (I don`t know) and leave all in three days.Looks to me like I have some room forward of the ejection port.I suggested Footed Block letters for the ease of readability. He says(thru a third party)that he wants something fancier like Script.Either way my question is`has anyone cut a stainless Kimber slide and is there boogies to know about?I thank you ahaead of time. Hi Michael. I engraved my dad's Kimber Solo last year. Don't recall anything drastic. Seemed softer than my Ruger stainless but I have very little experience to compare to. Of course I still sharpened often. But not more than expected.

I have engraved Kimber Stainless Kimber 1911's and they tend to be a little harder than most others, I use CMAX gravers and when doing lettering its best to go slow with around 3300 bpm and watch the tight turns. Just my experience. You should be ok.
