I just take one piece of wire, double it over on itself. I weld the free ends together. Then clamp this side into a vice. I made a patent pending (LOL, with Carlos in mind) to hook the wire loop by. Then spin in up with a drill. Very simple. Takes 5 minutes or less.
You can vary the look by using different gauge wire and the amount of twist you put into it.
Also you really don't need to solder anything till you attach it to the primary object. There's enough solder involved putting it around a buckle or whatever that it'll stay the way you want. Also, starting with soft wire, the twist hardens the wire so it's not going to unravel when you cut it.
