I can see areas that can be improved, just haven't worked out how to do it yet. Could do with spending a few months in the studios of Steve Adams or Billzach........
I am pleased you got Mjolnir portrayed so faithfully. Yet there is something missing… his chariot drawn by the goats Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjóstr and his mistress Járnsaxa. He looks a lot like Torbjörn Ekendahl our local butcher when I was a lad. He went by “Thor†because of the humongous hammer he carried with him that he used to stun hogs and cattle with before he took them apart with his Bowie knife. In his later years he was ‘color’ for a series of failed Rock Bands. He was quoted as saying that his pinash and personal magnetism couldn’t make up for their lack of talent. The Sheriff took his knife away from him after he retired because he was scaring the local bar patrons on a regular basis however he refused to give up his hammer and the Sheriff couldn’t find any local ordinances that carrying a hammer violated. The whole town turned out to see Thor buried with his hammer when he finally hit the road for Valhalla, "Hall of the slain."
There really isn’t anything I can see that would improve this carving (other than including a couple goats and an easy woman!) Now how often have you heard me at a loss for words? Perhaps it is the lighting but I think I see the very slightest “step down†below the last few letters of LIBERTY but it isn’t important enough to revisit in my opinion.
Cheers guys...... I still say I could learn a lot from Billzach......now we're not going to fight are we....
Shame Torbjörn Ekendahl has taken the steps to Valhalla, could have done with a bit of colour for my failed rock band. Yep..... I should pay more attention to detail, I can see a step between the last 3 letters.... and I don't do goats.... chariot and 4 heavy horses on there way.......
And soft southerners drink warm flat beer..... yuk.....!!!!
Thanks Steve , John, Steve223, makes me feel as though I'm getting somewhere.
Patina......PATINA......shhhhhhhhh........Walrafen is listening.......
Only patina I've tried is heat from a gas ring and a sharpie. Billzach and Steve Cox have given me a recipe....... haven't got around to trying it yet. I know there's a chemical that can be used but can't find out what it is.
Very nice Degs. Excellent job.
Don't listen to Verne he wants goats and easy women only because it reminds him of his youth, when he was a young Sheppard boy in Kansas
