I have heard there are places on this earth that have strange things going on as in things disappear in thin air. I think I have that in my shop. I can be sitting in one place and something I am working with is gone. Never to be seen again. It's sometimes easier to make a new one than look for the first one. Amazing

My watch shop/engraving area is only 12' X 20' and that happens too often. I spat a cap jewel spring out of Paul Hamler's Rolex Datejust a year ago and that thing still hasn't landed! Poof. Vanished into thin air like a fart.

Easy way to find the lost parts, buy new ones. And the old ones will reappear as if magic.works every time for me. YMMV

Not only do I experience the 'triangle' effect in my home/shop, it seems to follow me where ever I go. Didn't know it was able to travel along with me, but it does.

I have read this is a very common occurrence....that most of us spend more time looking for things that we know is there...somewhere? I got tunnel vision, my whole head is on the work and not where I put things. This can be very frustrating at times. But it is nice to know I am not the only one crawling on the floor looking for a burr or bit, or other object that I just put down....worst thing the older I get the more the aliens carry things off.....

Vanished into thin air like a fart.
Please forgive my indelicacy, but this reminded me of an old ditty which seems apropos.

I squeezed a fart into the air,
And where it fell, I know not where,
But hard and cold the looks of those,
In whose vicinity I had squoze.

Now we are discussing flatulence? Uffda!

Some topics do seem to come up even (maybe especially when) not wanted, and then linger on...

Somewhere off to my left when engraving is a little bitty silver oval. I had a bunch set in Thermoloc and was cutting EFS style ferns in them. This one wasn't set quite well enough and when I reached the 'flick' part of a cut it wasn't the burr that went flying...
