Thank You for taking the time to post this excellent link. Reminds me of metal arts classes I took back in the sixties. Makes the wine goblet I made look like crap but my mom loved it. There are a few places like Colonial Williamsburg where you still watch this being done. There are a few art departments that still teach theses skills. Unfortunately many are closing down as they are getting less popular and teachers are getting harder to find. I believe Tiffany still operates a shop as well. Thanks again for reminding me why I kept all those text books. Fred

i think some of the closures mentioned have fallen prey to the joystick mentality that some of our youngters have adopted. i was to teach about 9 youngsters the rudiments of carving stone. the lesson plan included 6, 2 hour sessions. approved by the director. this was 2 summers ago. average age, maybe 12 years old. the first 2 sessions went as expected. by the 4th, there was only one show. this was arranged by the director of a local youth group. sadly, i think they only showed up at the insistence of the director.
none showed any real interest.
