Question: New to engraving, I have some questions

Hello,

I am new to engraving world and I would like to get one of my watch engraved by specialist, before that, I have some questions which will help me to know exactly what shall I ask about when I contact artists

1- what are the engraving types? I noticed two types, first one who engrave the drawing and the second type who engrave the surrounding to show the drawing -which is more complicated, am I correct?

I posted pics of a 1945 colt official police fully engraved and was told you might be able to identify the engraver. Any help is greatly appreciated

Best idea would be to show the engraver pictures of the style you want. That way there is no confusion about styles & names.

Yes you are right, but I wanted to have some level in order to be able to speak the same language
