T.G.III Best advise I can give is get with an engraver for help and learn how to draw if you want to be successfully at engraving. J.J.

Thanks JJ, those pictures are from '06, the very first cuts, even though I didn't have the opportunity to study with a professional engraver I did manage to muddle through and learn some processes, mainly due to the archived posts on this and Steve's forums.

More recent work is posted on the forum here, even on this very page.

Allen...........Speedy metals have all the metals you will ever need, except gold and sliver, I just ordered 6" dia. round for lap dics. 1/2" long. I have seen octo, square etc on the site.

Thanks. I saw some hexagon, but not octogon. I have found that square does well to practice narrow runs where you did not intend to have the work follow over to another side. I was hoping to find some octagon stock that would be appropriate to work on designs intended to move over onto another side of an octagon barrel. I don't know why hexagons would not work just as well for that purpose. I have been using metalsonline.com. Glad to have another good source.
