Graver sharpening question

If my index finger that wraps around the underside of the graver is getting jammed up when making shallow cuts, that means I need to change the angle of the heel so the handle is higher, right? Right now I’m using a 120° bevel and sharpening the heel at 22.5° with the Apex 120 disk set to the “shape“ line which gives me a parallel heel.

I'm steadfastly resisting the urge to 'restock' on any sort of dogs, let alone the highly addictive JRTs (used to have SIX, yes, at one time), but some days my will wavers. They pretty much owned my life for 35 years and now I'm kinda enjoying being able to walk out the door for an hour or a month without making dog arrangements. Yesterday I got a fix providing doggy daycare for my neighbors' sweet chocolate lab mix.

holy &%$#! Dyas Farms is only five hours from here. that could pretty much ruin life as i know it...

It is unfortunate that doggy care has gotten so expensive that it is actually less expensive to give your dog away when you go on vacation and get another when you get back. HOWEVER, who can take that emotional roller coaster? The moral of the story is that dog owners need to find compatible dog owners and have play dates during the year, so that they can trade off boarding dogs with each other when vacation time rolls around--and the dogs will think they are on vacation!

We had two dogs in our earlier days, a purebred Black Lab and a Cocker Spaniel mixed breed (dog pound special) and when they both died within 6 months of each other and the kids left home, we decided to take a break from caring for another one (or two!) for a while. Of course we miss the companionship, but being able to go and do things together without having to find care for them was a blessing in disguise, as we got to know each other better. We're thinking of trying another stab with dogs, but we still want to travel and see the country without having to place them in "doggy jail," as my son calls it.
