First scroll design

Here’s my first attempt at drawing scrolls more seriously than a doodle. I used Sam’s German example as a reference. Feel free to point out problems. One I see is that the vines don’t taper the way I’d like them to. Next, tracing it in Illustrator.

Billy, Lots of work and a little too complicated for a first attempt at serious scrollwork.
The backbones for the first linking scroll are very muddled.
And many of your scrolls are egg shaped. The whole design is unbalanced.
You reached too far too early.
Make a simple single scroll or two for your next attempt.
And pay more attention to balance the background (negative) space and keep the scrolls round
Slow down, don't bite of such a big chunk.
Keep going and you will get there.
