Hello, i am Danny from Belgium and just started hand engraving.
I have recently purchased the Beginnner's course and Expert's guide to graver scharpening from Sam Alfano. In the sharpening course the Powerhone with fixed speed is used, I use the GRS Graverhone vs with variable speed.
My question: at what speed do i use the diamond discs 260, 600 and 1200?

i use a variable speed dc motor with a power supply. not sure of the rpm but i find slow is better for the way i work. i would only go a bit faster when doing the initial rough shaping of a new graver. touchup (for me) requires a more delicate approach.

Hello Danny and welcome to engraving and the Cafe.
I think I read somewhere that the single speed GraverHone runs at 480 RPM.
But check this out with GRS to be sure.
As you said, the speed of the single speed hone would be what Sam based his teaching course on.

Thank you for your replay, I looked it up and the PowerHone runs at 260 RPM.
