Lindsay Palmcontrol Question

Noobie here. When I used a palmcontrol in the past, I was able to move the position of the jaws side to side. I do not mean opening and closing with a wrench. I mean that the jaws were able to be moved so that they don't have to be centered on the vise. It was not camlock style. I've attached a photo for example.

Now I have my own palmcontrol and don't seem to be able to do this. I can see why (the threaded rod that the jaws open and close on sits on a stationary piece.) Not sure how the other palmcontrol was set up to allow this kind of movement? Any idea? Thanks

That piece in the middle of the threaded rod (it holds the rod) is removable. Steve explains it here:

Thank you so much! I had no clue I could just remove that piece, that makes sense.
