I was asked to work one of these knives. I know it’s doable but I’ve never had much luck scratching the plastic scales that knives like these have and they were wanting some inlay as well. Probably do a colored epoxy for the inlay no mater what I end up with but I was wondering if 1. Somebody had a recommendation for a knife similar shape and size to this Boker rangebuster with metal scales or 2. If anybody could could either share how to get some scales fitted/talk me out of trying it if it’s too big of a chore.
Thanks in advance

Good evening Pancho, looks sort of like you might want to inform your customer that his knife isn’t quite practical for engraving, maybe point him toward one with some metal showing already. If the new one it bead blasted knock it off smooth with a little 600 grit sandpaper and you’ll have one ready to pour some time into especially if your doing some inlay. Have a wonderful week. BB

Pancho, the Kershaw Leek is a good knife for engraving. The stainless is hard but cuttable. Just polish off the the bead blasted surface and you have a good American made knife that doesn't break the bank. In my experience if you remove the scale and press it in to hot glue it dampens the vibration and you spend less time sharpening.

Spyderco knives are engraver friendly.
