Hi everyone, not sure if I’ve ever posted here but after 7 almost 8 years of cutting I’ve decided to try my hand at a Colt 1911. This is the current layout I have and I’m looking for feedback and constructive criticism. I don’t think I’m going to do any deep relief so I didn’t put any borders but I may go back and add them and refine things. I haven’t added the text in the banner yet because I have a couple of options I’m playing with but it’ll be in a script font style. Anyway I hope this is up to par with some of you guys.

Good evening Jerrell, lacking a clear way to explain, there are a few leaves that feel backwards or grow abruptly off the backbone awkwardly. Perhaps one of the more qualified gentlemen can explain. Have a wonderful weekend. BB IMG_3762.jpeg

I’ve seen Sam, Richard Quecke and a number of other artists do something very similar to this. It’s a page from many different books so to speak. I might be using it wrong though I don’t know

Los Angeles area, California.
Same general style scroll style on both the pistol and slide.
But ln vastly different sizes and scale.
To my eye they are in a size conflict, as shown.
I would simplify the design on the pistol frame.
Just my two cent's worth!!
