Howdy -

This is my first post in the forums so first let me say that I'm very happy to have found a site with so many talented artist who are keeping hand engraving alive.

I'm fairly new to engraving - - most of what I've done is along the jewelry lines. I own a small business on the side silversmithing and cutting opals - my "real" job is the military... what I love about engraving is that with a couple of simple tools I can take my hobby on the road with me, anywhere in the world.

I've recently been trying my hand at hobo nickles, and would love any feedback/advice.

Here's the nickel in question; thanks in advance for looking and for any comments

Cheers!

Ryan

yep Bills right, thats cool.

Hey Bill, you coming down June 11th?

Hey Scott, what time is best to show up? Maybe there'll be folks checking out of their hotel in the AM so the shootin' shouldn't start till folks have a chance to show up right? Let us know and I'll be there.

i'm not new to engraving, but am new to the coins. am still on my first. your image shows very dark, but looks like a neat morph in the making on your nickel.

Thank you all for the kind words... I've been trying to do something different than modifying the face, there are so many talented folks already working along that vein. Guess I'll keep plugging along and try to find a niche and refine my technique to get a cleaner look - Cheers! Ryan
