About to engrave something more “classical” for a little while, so got to leave this one for some time.. With me trying to be a somewhat artistic with the camera.. shame, now that all the shading fun started.
I know someone that knows someone at Spyderco that were asking, but they did not want to tell.. Factory secret, but I agree they engrave quite nicely. Also note they probably use different steel in their China models compared to their Japanese models.
I was thinking to take some good progress shots of the green gold pendant.. that didn't work so well, but I got some cool experimental photos. Only edited contrast. The 18k green gold shines really bright in the right light! :-)
I wonder if Brian Powley did it, or maybe he was sharing a video like that, but might not be his.. but anyway it´s a few years ago. I might remember very wrong though.. it´s a fun idea. :-)
And this is keeping me busy some days.. I don't have too much of that green wire and I´m not planning to make new in the very near future, so I have to plan well.
I started with 0,5 mm wire and did the more wide inlays, annealing and using the draw plate and make the wire more thin.. at this...
Thank you very much! :-) I don't have any specific tutorial videos on how to drawing, but I have some videos on YouTube where I´m drawing.. some of it might be a little older, but have a look if you like here: https://www.youtube.com/@engraverhand
I´m currently working on a cool knife but ran out of gold.. well I have gold nuggets just have to get it melted and made wire, but it´s a little process as I can´t use my other workshop to melt golld anymore, so I´m in the process of finding a new melting place..
So in the mean time I was...
If I understand you correctly.. When using a 45 degree face I usually see the face of the graver in the microscope, which I think is pretty good because I also see the tip of the graver very clear. So when you have to follow a line, shading and such I really want to know where I start engraving...
Thanks, fun making those videos too :-) Anyway, tomorrow I´ll try to put down the way I use for transfer with printers.. just a little on a rush now :-)
Personally I use my 116 degree graver with 45 face for everything. Same graver for outline and shading. I think it´s more about controlling the graver. :-)
Hi, I cant remember what my compressor is at, but the regulator is always around 28 to 30 psi. It´s not too high and I like to work on details.. but I have that settings for my Classics and just use the same when I connect the BenchJewel. :-) Probably it´s normal with a little more high...
I have an xTool 20W diode laser.. I have used it for transferring to copper and stainless steel. But read, "I have used it".. to be honest it is much faster to transfer a print, or even draw directly. Of course when I do more complicated (for me) scrolls I need a transfer, but I transfer the...
