    i have had horrible results with nearly every "5 minute" epoxy i've tried. i used it to fill voids in carved wood signs. weeks later, the stuff would still be gummy or tacky. ymmv

    i can understand all that has been posted here. i've been thru multiple surgeries myself. including brain surgery--( yes, they found one) and i'm to the point now that i almost do no hand engraving. fortunately i do machine and laser engraving. just enuff to keep me off the streets and out of jail.

    the tip is really the concern. the back end need not be hardened. if left soft, in time,it will begin to "mushroom" a bit.

    i think pitch and tar are just about the same materials. they just differ in hardness. creating an image from a photo like you have done, must be very difficult to do.

    i usually use .25" copper, brass, or bronze tubing. for the "d" ring i usually use .080-.090" rod which i form on a fixture i made. not the least bit fancy, but easy & quick to make. i also hand form the hook of the same material

    i'm quite comfortable doing wiggle cuts at a very steep wrist angle. what does a low wrist angle do to the appearance of the cut ? it seems as i would try to lower the wrist angle the danger of a slip increases markedly ! also there would appear to be less pressure to bear into the metal, and...
