Sorry Sam. I had mine set up for automatic renewal, but it didn't seem to happen this time. I just set it up again. Happy New Year and will see you in Vegas!
Thanks for your interest and input Big-Un. Actually, I softened the shadow of the glass from the photo. As you can see, I moved the position of the candle and I felt that the shadow was too strong, even if it was what the camera recorded. Here is the actual photo that I used for reference.
This is my most ambitious digital painting thus far. I took several photos of various exposures with candlelight only and some with fill lights. I then took the best images to combine in my painting, so as to give it a far greater dynamic range. Just as one's eyes truly see objects in dim...
Gordon,
Look at some of the YouTube video reviews of the newest iPad Pro and the latest Apple pencil. The new pencil will NOT work with the older IPad and visa versa! I was not impressed with the the new pencil and it's magnetic charging capability since I prefer a silicone sleeve on my...
I totally agree with your premise that learning to draw is the best road to becoming a competent engraver. Having worked with pencils and ink my entire life, I feel confident in their usage. However, I must comment on your statement about becoming dependent on computer drawing programs. You...
Ausmithe,
I've never tried to share brushes. I know that there is a "share" button on the brush slider but I don't know how to get them to you. I would need your email address. If you want to send me a Private Message through the Forum with your email, I will try to send the brushes I use...
Well Otto, if that's the BEST you can do, you can stop now and we'll be satisfied! Just kidding my friend. I know you will never stop amazing us with your creativity. Keep up the fine work and I hope to see you in Vegas.
Well it once did mean something. I was a General Dentist for 42 years before retirement. But that was 5 years ago and now I would probably have a hard time just doing a simple filling!
Great underwater photo work Brant! I got my PADI card in 1974 while being stationed at Subic Bay, Philippines. The diving was good there but not as great as some of the other dive spots I've seen in later years. unfortunately, it's been over 4 years since I've been diving. I do miss it!
Welcome to the Forum! My suggestions, first REALLY study simple scroll designs, (There are tons on this Forum). Don't be afraid of copying some of these designs. It's how we all first learned. If you plan to begin with hand pushing your gravers, cut softer materials first. Go with copper or...
Thank for the link Roger. It is a lovely pistol and I too would have taken a second look. I wonder if the "punch dot" work was truly punched or done by the laser, probably the latter. Whatever the case, it would be a great firearm to take to a match and actually use as it was intended.
I agree with John. The design is pedestrian, at best, as compared to most of you Master Engravers. (In general, I would not be ashamed if I did this design , except for a few areas that bug me) But for a gun that is not going to be a "safe Queen" it's better than any of the other laser...
Just a heads-up for you Procreate 4.2 users. The newest version of The Artists Handbook is available for free download. There are a lot of new toys within the program. Procreate continues to be the best drawing app for the I-Pad Pro and the creators at Savage are continually upgrading their...
Simply stunning! The engraving, the stock carving, the checkering, and the metal finish are all magnificent! I can't imagine what the final auction price will reach.
I attended all of Ken's engraver get togethers in N. Carolina. He will be sadly missed! He was always willing to share any and all of his techniques. He was the first to teach me how to set gold inlays. He gave me the piece of ivory that I carved into a Golden Eagle "cameo". I offered it to...
Sam,
I hesitate to ask this in the main Forum, but I wanted to make sure you saw it. You once mentioned to me the name of the company that you use to print your Giclee prints of your Procreate drawings. I've misplaced the note that I wrote to myself (NOT an uncommon occurrence!). Could you...
