Allen I'm not even sure when the last time I actually used a momax. I know they were the rage when we updated the how to book years ago. I is long over due to be updated. Thanks for stepping up to do it
I always found that just free handing the heel on an onglette with a simple twist of the wrist was the fastest easiest way to do that. Just lift up and twist. repeat for the other side by twisting the other way
I don't use the Lindsay templates They are good but set to one setting each
I use the GRS fixtures as I can adjust them to different settings as needed
Now I will say that the contracted places like mail box and ups stores will not accept guns as you must go to the distribution offices. Again that's a whole other story as stated before. But the official US Post office counters should. Did you talk to the post master or just the guy behind the...
Now again remember, according to federal law, You cannot ship a gun to another individual thats for sale unless you have an FFL going to another FFL holder. even through the post office
That rings some truth, The last time I tried to ship a gun, and it was for repair, through FEDEX, I was sternly told I cannot ship it from their office. I would have to ship it from my place of business for pickup even as a FFL holder. Now they did not refuse it but had their special way they...
You never mentioned if you have an FFL. If you don't, thats the problem in a nutshell in shipping a firearm to an individual other than for repair. Back and forth to Turbull is legal even as an individual as it is for gunsmithing or repair NOT sale since it is being shipped back to you as the...
I use a sq 90 degree graver sharpened to a 50 degree face and 12 degree heel. Use a light touch as you engrave and keep it sharp I do not daub the point for banknote work I also like the 105 sharpened the same way
There is nothing new to that. You were essentially shipping the gun to a new owner it seems since it was for a donation not back to the original owner as you originally stated you have done in the past. The USPS is the easiest to ship back and forth with. Fedex and UPS seem to make up rules as...
as an additional bit of information, I just finished a pair or new 1873 Winchesters made in Japan. The frames have the appearance of color case hardening. However they are not hard and the cosmetic colors are easily removed with bluing remover, AKA Toilet bowl cleaner
The C and F series colts are color case hardened and have to be annealed. They are considered real colts even though some of the parts were made in Italy but they were assembled and finished by colt to their standards and the serial numbers were a continuation of the older original colt...
when I was teaching at GRS they gave Diane and myself a Magnum to play with as it was still in the developing stages. Naturally Diane went heavy bright cut to test is out. I decided to see how stepped down or fine I could get with it and went the other way. I reduced the air pressure on the...
