    Polarizing filter for Leica 9I

A polarizing filter may cut some of the glare, but it will reduce the light transmitted through it by 75%. That might be fine for your camera, but hard for cutting. When setting diamonds, or other highly reflective work, I turn off my ring light and use directional light. An inexpensive LED...

    Tarnish on nickle silver

In watchmaking school we were taught to use Simichrome Polish (Rio Grande.com Item: 331126). It's a none-abrasive polish that you rub on with a piece of an old t-shirt, let dry a couple minutes and rub off with a soft flannel. Question: is this created using a liner?

That looks to me to have been cut with a Florentine Cylinder Burr. Check with www.ottofrei.com, I know they carry them in a couple different sizes and "cuts". Much faster, and easier to master than doing Florenitne finish with liner gravers. Good luck!

Poll - Where do you engrave?

Tira, my primary work space is a 10 x 12' room in an old outbuilding which I insulated and finished with windows on the east and south sides. It contains all my jewelry and engraving equipment, books and an extra bench for jewelry student use. The adjacent room is a multi-project space with...
