10.5ct Color Change Fluorite in 14K White Gold

Our latest custom; aHand made and hand engraved apron surrounding the pear shaped stone, set in a three prong, cast setting 12x16mm. Accented with a .17ct SI1/G-H RBC diamond in a 6 prong 'miracle' top and a 'Stuller' bail. The Fluorite, with a hardness of 4 and 4 distinct cleavage planes is not a setting job for the faint of heart.

Shown in incandescent light, as purple and in natural light as blue.

Beautiful colors, but man, what horrible stuff to set! You are brave - I quit trying because it is too risky.
As with rhodochrosite, I now only devise a way to molecularly bond (epoxy) it in place,
or use a laser to secure it from the back into a preformed setting. Nice job!

It is the same stone, a Fluorite that changes color in different lighting situations. In inside light (incandescent) it appears purple and in sunlight it appears blue. The blue picture was taken indoors, so isn't fully sunlight. It has changed the background a little, but the color hasn't been changed.
