i want to add black pigment to molten beeswax & tallow. powdered pigment-- such as tempera paints leave the wax a bit too "gritty" would oil-based paint work ? i mean artists' oil paint.

Yeah I think Sam is right. Lamp black is going to be about the finest black pigment your going to find. The only way to get finer than that is to go to a dye. I don't know of any dyes that are not either water or alcohol based.

Monk, I used inletting black and Chapstick. Works for me. How about Prussian Blue???

I read that Mike makes his transfer wax from Chapstick mixed with graphite,works great for transfering I just used it on a S&W cylinder. J.J.
