Announcement: a new website using a free website builder from wix.com

I’m building dynamic website for as long as we have access to the Internet.

I was quite handy using PHP MYSQL scripts and made many professional website that I hosted on my dedicated server at UK2.net
I updated my knowledge on PHP till version 4. My website www.juwelenarnaud.be still runs on that server. But the server is out of date, if I need support, the young people have problems with the Linux version.

After thieves visited my previous shop, I decided to have less jewelry in my shop and having al my creations online. Not really an online shop, just the way customers could request any information on what was shown. I have a very good ranking in Google, and that way I have daily new customers mailing me asking for particular info on my Titanium wedding bands.

I even sent two pair to the USA Just to illustrate that if I run out of a website, I no longer will have any jobs.

Upgrading to a newer server was an option, but that means I would have to rewrite all the PHP scripts into a new version, and I can’t do that.

So I decided to have a new domain www.juwelenarnaud.com to build a new parallel website. Once this new one has a good Google ranking, I will forward the old domain to that new location.

I had to find a good hosting provider with a great website builder and I found www.wix.com who offers all features I need. Take a look at their offers if you planning to build one yourself.

My new website is online for about one week. If you like it you can like it on Facebook. Those social plugins are very important now a days.

So I decided to have a new domain www.juwelenarnaud.com to build a new parallel website. Once this new one has a good Google ranking, I will forward the old domain to that new location.

Why not do the forwarding now? The hits on the old site will forward and you will collect the hits from both for your ranking on the new site.

Doc, my old one has a particular structure, So all that is found in that one by Google, will not be found on the new one. So I think by doing that, Google will no longer support me with good ranking as noting will be found.
Another problem I have is that a lot of photos I posted here run on that server, by forwarding the old domain, all those images will be invisible
Fixing that will be really hard, that is why for the most recent images I have them on my FB page, there they will stay probably longer than on any other location.

Am I wrong Doc about forwarding?

Wix is very easy to use, but from my point of view is better have the total control in your own website, but is a good solution for an easy way for build a website, a little expensive if you use the ecommerce feature but well, good luck with the new project, for mac users now is available a new software that replace IWeb i'm playng with it and is not bad if you want a easy builder .
