Yes I am, I used to cut steel plates for engraved wedding invitations & announcements. Etched the out line and cut the inside of the letters. Mostly script style.
So you see Jim, that by trying to cut this by hand, the weight of the cuts is far too minimal to get the same effect, however on a smaller scale such as jewelry, rings and such, it might be possible to ornament smaller items, but it would break your back trying to do it by palm tool without power on larger stuff. You can get a reasonable facsimilie with the h&c however. A little rougher maybe, but similarly effective.
I played with this style just a little bit with my Box O' Happiness at work the other day. Just using a flat and experimenting with doing a side-by-side pair of rolled cuts was giving me some good stuff. Now that I've got the tutorials about how to do it right I should be able to even better.
