Accurately replicating design onto curved surfaces

When taking a design that you have drawn onto metal what is the best way to accurately get that onto a sharp curved surface where transferring is not possible. I have tried just drawing straight onto the metal but there's just no way I am going to get the level of accuracy of a transfer. Is this just an experience issue or is there any tips for making this any easier?

You can train your eye to draw directly and the design will look more artistic! Block in your main lines, general to specific details, many details done with directly with the graver.

drawing on the metal is the way to go. I have cut the outlines on a plate then used transfer wax and clear tape to transfer to the curved surface it works in some areas but drawing is faster.

Did you have a go with camera lucida apps? Doesn`t make it easy but keeps you trying...... I have Obscur for Android.
