Help, please: Acrobat stand to drill press colum

Need help (how to) attaching a acrobat stand to a drill press colum. Have looked at the posted "shop" "workbench" setups and other post concerning this subject could not determine just what was used to attach the stand to the colum. The colum is 2.750" dia. Would appreciate any suggestions that are in actual use and working.

Just weld a mounting plate to the top if the column, mark holes and drill. If your plate is thick enough you may want to tap the holes for your mounting bolts directly in the welded plate. I would use a 1/2" thick mild steel plate if you are tapping in it.
