I know paint has been discussed here in the past.... With that said I've discovered a new paint that could be of interest to others. Instead of using flat black as recommended by others I've been using a very dark flat gray which gives the engraving a nice tarnished back ground color...

Rust-Oleum fast drying automobile primer 2089 DARK GRAY.
I just used some on a stainless revolver and it looks like a million bucks...Give it a try I think you will like it.

only thing with primer is ... it is ment to be covered. The same color in a finish product would do nicely, its just that primer will oxidize and wear away quickly

I use "1-Shot" lettering Enamel....for backgronds, lettering & pinsrtiping....

No problems in over 50 years..
Rustoleum is too slow drying for me

Thinking of trying some of my House of Color urethane lettering paint...but old habits are hard to break...especially when something works as well as it does........

Hope this helps a little...
