There have been many discussions on background blackening and I thought I would share one that I have been using for sometime now. Did not mean to keep it a secret just never got around to posting it. I have been using Brichwood Cassey "Presto" Gun Bluing Pen. I degrease the surface using lighter fluid, acetone or rubbing alcohol dry with heat gun (not get surface hot-just dry) then apply the pen. Works great for me. You can wipe off high spots or surface or you can give a light 0004 steel wool treatment. Have had no problems with it rubbing off. Fred
