I got this 10 x 8 inch brass plate from a customer that's 3/8 inch thick to engrave. My question is it has a coating on both sides that the customer wants removed before it's engraved. I don"t know how to get it off. He ordered it online from Germany and tried contacting them but as of yet has not received an answer. I tried paint stripper and it did not take it off, thinking maybe it's lacquer. It doesn't peel off. Any help?
Michael

if the acetone doesn't work, I'd try MEK, I noticed a few deep scratchs looks like sanding time, they have to come out anway I would think

Thanks for the help, I ended up sanding it off. None of the solvents worked!
