Can the Grs system be connected like this?

I don't think so. The control box sends an air pulse to the system that's
controlled by the release of at the foot pedal. You have put the vent at
control box. Only exhaust air would have the pulse. The rest of
the system would be at a constant rate with no way to cause anything
to happen in the handpiece. When the pressure is turned on, the down
stroke would happen once but not retract.
