Does any one out there wash their ceramic laps? Is it possible to do this to change from .5 micron to .25micron or will washing it just be a waste of time and money because the two will mix?
No it is not a waste of time to wash your lap. Washing removes waste from cutting and polishing. But to change grit size it will not help. Your lap will always retain some of the Pryor grit and waste. What you what you start with is what you need to stay with. For example you are polishing a graver and it is coming along nicely and then for no reason along comes some really bad scratches. That is almost always foreign matter or Pryor cutting or polishing compound. I truly love lapentry it teaches one to take your time.to rush is to ruin.
