Cronite Ruling Machine

A Cronite ruling machine. I've had it around for a while and now thinking about selling it but I have no clue where to even start on value. I realize this is the Hand Engraving forum, but these machines were used by Banknote engravers in addition to hand engraving to scribe and etch very fine, exacting lines for borders, background shading, etc. It will also do concentric circles. If anyone has any idea of value, I'd appreciate it. Please move to proper forum if this is not acceptable.

It's my impression that this one is somewhat rare and top of the line for Cronite 'straight line' machines because of the rotary table that can do concentric circles and arcs.

interesting. i wonder if the Cronite Co. has any further info, or knows of any collectors or artists who keep an eye out for these old machines? i have heard that letterpress and other types of traditional printing are enjoying a resurgence, so maybe an artisan printers group would be interested. i believe there's one here in the Asheville area.

The block of steel with the holes reminded me of my working in the printing trade those were used in letter press printing to mount the printing plates do you have the plate mounts and the key. J.J.

No I didn't know it had that.

I used to buy inks and wiping cloths from them years ago. I'll do a search. I just assumed they were no longer in business.

Cronite is still in business and actually has a few NEW ones still in stock priced at $5,200.

scratchmo: you'll likely get a better sales audience in the classified-buy/sell section. as for a valuation on this, i'd guess a grand maybe more. just a guess.
