I thought I had better post something just to let everyone know that I'm still kickin. I made this cuff this weekend for the Houston Stockshow and Rodeo.

Its 10ga. sterling with a few sapphires added just for fun. I used the rope border from Mike Dubber's demo at last years FEGA. I love that border treatment and use it a lot.

Best to all!!

Jim

Very nice looking bracelet. I have been spending the weekend trying to get my brain around western bright cut - your picture is very timely for me! Thank you for posting.

Bracelet engraving

Great work Jim - good to see folks use the rope border. The color stones are also a nice touch.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

The stones were an afterthought. I probably spent as much time setting those sapphires as I did engraving the bracelet. I didnt have the right size setting bur so I had to use a drill bit and square graver to wallow out the settings instead. The inside of the bracelet is engraved as well, so I had to be careful not to drill all the way through the silver.

Andrew, I really missed seeing everyone at FEGA this year as well. Maybe 2011 will work out better.

Mike, thanks again for the rope border demo. It took a little practice to master, but I use it all the time now. I'm still working on pinning down the dates to pay you a visit. Will let you know something as soon as I know.

Jane & Celticjohn,
Thanks for your interest. I posted a brief tutorial here which will hopefully explain how to do the rope border. Let me know if you have any questions. Mike Dubber is the real expert, though.

John B. - Hello! Sorry to have missed you at FEGA. I had some medical issues which kept me here. (All better now)

Sure did miss seeing you.

Best,

VERY nice Jim. 10 ga., that must have a nice weight to it:big grin:.

In looking at some of the bracelets posted, I was wondering what thickness silver was used. I was thinking 16 ga. would be nice, but that 12 looks VERY good!
