Question: Damascus 1080 and 15n20

Good morning!
I’m asked to engrave a sword ricasso which is Damascus made out of 1080 and 15n20; it’s not heat treated yet.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Would like some input.

I suppose it would depend on what design you plan to apply. I have done raised gold inlays in Damascus parts without problems but don't know the type metals involved. If I can find a photo I will add to the thread.

Here is one photo...you can see the raised gold ornament on the side of the quarter rib.

It has been about 25 years but as I remember, I just went slow making a few cuts to get to depth and had no problems.
