Pardon my platinum ignorance, but I have no idea. It was quite soft though.

I have watched the video that you posted of this ring....the ring is great!
I really like how you worked the starting and ending points together....
A question.....what areas of your FEGA sculpting video do you cover.
I have your jewelry engraving video... superior lessons
I have used those techniques to improve my skills, and really like your sculpting...I think it is the best way to go if a person wants to embellish their ring.

Sam: Gorgeous - I have to make sure my wife see this. I still have not engraved our bands, going on 14 years of marriage, and that's the main reason I started to do engraving.

What do you use to blacken the background?

just guessing , but it look as if you had to do a lot of pounding to move metal around, does that cause distortion? and hardening, nice ring

Thanks Shawn. The FEGA video I did shows the punch technique for moving the metal, similar to what's on my jewelry engraving DVD. There's not much difference between the two.

Thanks Eugene. I call it punching and not pounding, and there was no distortion other than moving and shaping the metal, and no work hardening.

Thanks MG. The black background is Rustoleum flat black paint.

the 3-d effect is totally cool. i also like the sort of frosted appearance to the design surfaces. i assume the ring is held on some sort of close- fitting mandrel

What catches my eye the most about this ring is the flow of the design. The engraving and sculpting is top notch of course but imho the initial design and layout is probably what made this such a winner. Great work Sam!
