Design Criteria derived from object engraved

in the land of Scrolls,
I am big proponent of scroll design being drawn from the object being engraved. Scroll should look like as it literally grew on that piece. Sometimes that design is derived from the outline of the piece itself, sometimes the curves present in the metal, sometimes its the historical associations with a given shape, or the lines or shapes present within handle material. In this case, it was the star damascus pattern on the blade that dictated to me what should be put on the blank canvas of the bolster. You can judge whether or not I effectively met the "It grew there" criteria.

Scott, The blade and the bolster are perfectly matched.
It is as if, you read the knife and felt the design.
Thanks,
Stephen

Scott,
When I first looked at the bolsters I thought that you partally etched them to bring out the damascus pattern, then I realized you cut the engraving to match the damascus, great job.

Great work but it would scare one of my cats - he doesn't like things that stare at him so that face'd freak him out.

You did so well on the bolster that it has me looking at the blade for more faces.
