Critique Request Does it look like my workflow is working?

Hello all I have a question on my design workflow as a new engraver, while I can sit down and totally freehand I find that my proportions are not to my liking where as if I do my layout in my graphic design app then trace and hand shade I find the proportions better. I also can just throw rough lines on the screen and fill in or I actually trace leaf elements I want to reuse. I feel like this workflow works and as you look at the attached photos you will see my hand drawn only image fails to flow as good as the one I did the layout first on my computer. I have only been practicing about a week total on sketching scrolls, bought Sams videos last week and went to town with homework.

perhaps im a dinosaur. i've found learning to draw well, esp on a part, is far faster than when i try to manipulate a screen to achieve desired results. some here seem to have mastered "electro"
designing. i'm not one of them. i draw oversized on paper, when i feel it's good, i then scan and send the sized result to print. jmho
