Engraving bronze

How is bronze to engrave ? I've just found bronze watches. They seem to have plenty of real estate and I like the look. On one website, they show a disc that must have been cut off a bar of bronze and the watchcase is machined out of that. Thanks, Mark

if the bronze is turned from bar stock it shouldn't be too bad. cast bronze can be a whole 'nuther matter...

Cast bronze can have places that will come out in chunk if you are not careful. Some times it is hard to tell

My experience with bronze is it is very porous. When I TIG welded it it was always producing "open" puddles, but I've not tried engraving any.
