Field of View and Focal Length

With 10X eye pieces and .3x-4X head piece, there is only a 4”-2” focal distance.

How does one accomplish a longer focal distance so there is enough space for hands and tools not to knock at the bottom part of the microscope?

Are there some type of special lenses that I should be looking for when I am buying a scope or something else? (I am trying to buy a used refurb on e-Bay).
I am looking for a solution that will do 6"-9" @10X.

Boban, you need to get an .5 or a.3 objective lens for your scope if it has a place to fit it at the exit lens site. This will give you more hand and tool room and a longer focal length
