Fixturing trick

Nice rest setup I have tried a few each having problems. The one pictured I believe will work very well keeping one close to the work and at the same angle as the vise moves.
Now just to fabricate it or something similar

for the record, that fully enclosed rest set-up only works well for items small enough to fit within the 'gap' between them. otherwise, they're kind of a PITA. that resulted in making a couple more plates that allow for longer objects. i've got a pile of prototypes. maybe i'll post some more pics.

I appreciate your pics of the fixtures. I find fixturing of gun parts to be as or more challenging than the engraving. Thanks for your generosity of sharing.

If you get time that would be great. I have tossed mine, they ended up bulky.
Now I need to stand more to engrave and have been going through ideas. Never thought to attach it to the vise. That would keep ones hands close to a natural position. Add a shot bag or such for higher items.
