Yes Roger, I have you to thank for my found fondness of German game scene engraving. Than you for for the pics. I found some pics on goggle , but hard to authenticate if they are the real deal. And also I am always looking for the " stump" . Lol

Just as Grandma Moses of the Ozarks placed a tulip in each painting, this engraver places a stump.
Remember the "Bunny" hidden on the cover of Playboy?

Roger, I was even looking for the stumps . Here's a similar rifle to one you posted image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg with what looks like Germanic influence. I realize it isn't a game scene but I couldn't resist sharing. It has No sign of a signature.

Look for anything done by Martin Strolz. He is on anyone's top shelf for world class engraving and certainly one of my favorites.

You can look for older J.P. Sauer engraved guns on the web at the auction sites, and some of the dealers that handle high end guns. They usually are a good source for good photos of these type of things.

Thanks guys for the help. Now if only I could find some castings of this type of engraving. My plans are to use this style for belt buckles, it seems like it would have better wear quality than bulino. I know bulino can look alot more detailed but I like the old school look of German scene engraving
