These are pics of work I did in 94/95. Lots of work. These are a pair, one being a .410 and the other a 20 gauge. Probably wouldn't do it the same way if I had to do it again. (Especially after taking Winston's class at the Grand Master's!!)

Enjoy,

Weldon

Weldon,
That looks pretty dang good to me. What would you change now that you've been to Winston's class?

I'm not good enough to see how you could have done it better but I'm interested in hearing how you would have done it different (other than charging closer to what it's worth).

KCSteve,

As for what I would do different: I would use a little more restraint and try for much more elegance without covering everywhere with engraving. That's not to say I think it's bad as it is, just that I'd like to try for a more graceful design. Sometimes less is more!

Beautiful looking gun. I love the inlay/overlay work you did.

Thanks for sharing some of what you learned from Churchill

in the land of Scrolls,
Oh I don't know, I think the layout and the gold design is prettly elegant and balanced. I think your execution has improved about 6000% since then, especially on the raised inlays, given that SAA that you had in the classroom. Lets see some pictures of that, that will knock everyone socks plum off and out the door!

Beautiful job Weldon. I do see how you've grown in your work, just from things you post. Not to say anything is wrong with these two examples. I think we all second guess ourselves. There are a lot of knives out there that I'd love to buy back and throw in the trash :D But all of the owners I've talked to are still satisfied with what they have. I think as we grow in our knowledge of art and symmetry we just look at stuff in a lot different light. But the work you did on these two guns is beautiful to me, I'd love to own them. Thanks for posting. Dwayne
