I was at Joann's Fabric recently and picked up this hole punch. I wasn't expecting much but I tried it out on a GRS practice plate and was shocked at how easy it punched through. Bead Buddy Jewelers Handy Hole Punch $9

I have an easier time with the smaller holes. I don't have the hand strength to easily punch the larger holes.

The Roper Whitney, shallow throat model, is the one I have along with the decades old two-hole punch, as shown. The two-hole punch is most likely an American version, as there weren't many knock-offs around back then. My Roper is USA made, and the knock-offs I've seen are sloppy junk with horrible tolerances. If you're in a position to do so, always buy American, as the quality is mostly levels above the crap we've been handed. Many of us, I know, cannot afford what we want or need, and we must do the best with what we have. Often, you can do quality work with inferior tooling. . .an admirable trait!
