I have a question that may seem simple but I would like to know how high my engraving bench should be, or in other words at what level the top of the ball vise should sit.
Mack, I sent you that information by PM some time ago.
To repeat, for H&C use with an Optivisor and a potters wheel bench to top of your vise should be just below the nipples on your chest IMO.
This will give you very little bending and conserve your back.

Is that as you are sitting up straight or bending over engraving? Seems like it is hard on my back and my back is not too good anyway with all that metal in there.
Wow I can see now that mine is about 3 inches too low and I think that could make all the difference. The pictures really help especially the first one
after you engrave for a few hours at a time your body will answer that question. the answer may, ( will ) vary somewhat from person to person. i no longer do h&c standing, unless the work is either very high- or i do it seated. my back is in charge here.
