I built my engraving machine with some help from YouTube and bought a handpieces from the same guy. Just a look at my setup and my beginner work that I've been able too do with it. Waiting on my new microscope and positioning vice from Lindsay. Thanks for looking guys. Hope to hear criticism and helpful tips for a newbie.

Unfortunately Rick is no longer making the metal. Delrin handpiece has done me great though.

Direct, which was not easy but I found a robotics company that make couplings for 8mm to 5/16" that are pretty precise. I used 24v 100w Scooter Motor. Reverse, forward, brake. A decent setup for spending $100. The enclosure was the most expensive part.

Mouser is the distributor but Hammond is the manufacturer. They make really nice enclosures. I'll see if I can find the series number for the part I used

I used an electrical junction box from Home Depot for my enclosure box. Good heavy metal.

If you have a drill press you can make one out of a 5/16 bolt. Clamp a block of wood on your drill press and drill and tap a 5/16" hole. Then screw the bolt into that tapped hole. Next drill a hole for the motor shaft into the head of the bolt. This will get you perfectly centered. Then drill and tap the bolt head from the side for a 8-32 set screw.

I used a brass bolt, but aluminum and plastic ones are also available. But the regular zinc coated ones also work. Cost about 40 cents???

Dogcatcher thanks on the drill press info. If I‘m unable to buy it then I’m going to follow you advice. I’ve been building all my engraving tools Everything diy and I’m now trying to skip must of the diy if I can and just trying to get more time into engraving. But the power hone is way to much $$$ for me so I’m going to try and build it. Thanks again
