I found this on Ganoksin (jewelry site)...
In the middle of this article on etching metal, there is a section on "Photo Transfer Process"...It outlines the process necessary to transfer a xerographic image from overhead transparency film to metal.

Basically, it involves "remelting" the toner and transferring it to metal. While somewhat more time consuming that other methods...it is however another method just the same.
