I appreciate very much those of you who have taken the time to contribute photos and details of your work. Your time and effort has been a great benefit to me.

I have negleted to participate in that way so here is my first contribution. I have a great interest in seal ring engraving which is something I want to work hard at improving this year.

I hand engrave for the retail jewelry trade. Most of my time is spent doing work of this type, brightcut lettering and inside ring engraving.

Beautiful work, Steece. Thanks for posting the photos. Very nice monogram, and you're doing really well with the seal work. I'm happy to see that. I'm seeing more interest in seal engraving, and believe that market's picking up. Can you post a photo of an impression sometime? / ~Sam

The engraving looks great. Did you design the seal, or is it the customer's design? Do people usually have a family coat of arms, or are people looking to design their own?

Hi Tira,

The seal rings are done with the customer's coat of arms ( their design). I do alot of them for fathers having them done for their children so everyone in the family has one. I enjoy doing them and hope to do alot more of them.

How did your monogramed flashlights turnout??

I posted a picture of them in a thread titled "Monogram Mag-Lite Flashlights" before Christmas. I think they turned out well for a first attempt. I now have a better understanding of the process having been through it once and will improve on my next set of monograms and flashlights. Thanks for the help with the lettering.

Great work Steece, I have a ring here that a customer wants engraved with his crest ( a helm with a deers head). The antlers are huge which is going to make the rest really small. Any advice? He says he doesn't want it relief engraved. I find it really hard to know what to charge for these jobs as I'm not in the jewellery trade so again any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Marcus
