Please excuse the newb question. I’m new to the forum. I have an S&W 460 Bone Collector. The black in the “7 of 1500” inscription has faded significantly (see image). Can someone recommend a safe way to darken it, without darkening the surround metal area? B3FE72A1-C7C1-4C05-BB51-C93D96FACDA2.jpeg

Speedball black oil based printers ink.
Apply to the area with a Q tip.
Wipe off the surrounding surplus with the flat palm of your hand.

no printers' ink ? flat black rustoleum will do the trick. same procedure as john b. mentioned. i've put quite a few rounds thru a .455. not too good for bustin beer & pop cans. after a couple shots, you almost want to take up bowling.
