Lockplate for Andrew Jackson pistol

[Southern Custom]

This is the lockplate for a "documentary" piece I'm doing. The original gun was owned by Andrew Jackson and was made by American gunmaker Phillip Creamer. The engraving is a cut for cut copy of the original gun where possible. The finished gun will be auctioned off later this year at a Contemporary Longrifle Association event. I'll post a side by side of the original and finished copy when it's done.

Very nice. Was the original engraver P. C., or the usual "name lost to history"?

As far as I know, Creamer cut the original. Fairly common in the 1700s from what I've heard.
